CMP Develops iPad App for Coke

In celebration of the 125th anniversary of The Coca-Cola Company, Craig Miller Productions developed an iPad Touch Screen application for two traveling global museum exhibits. The exhibits were conceived, designed and produced by Gary Lee Super of Gary Lee Super Associates, Inc. The exhibits are currently touring Singapore and Turkey.

Each exhibit consists of five mobile museum cases containing artifacts drawn from the archives of the iconic soft drink manufacturer. The Coca-Cola Company wanted to display as many artifacts as possible, but space inside the cases was at a premium. The company needed a space effective option that was more engaging than the traditional museum exhibit labels.

The solution: a commercial iPad application with on-board videos and website for each of the five museum cases. The displays also feature 17-inch flat screens with historical video programs developed by the team at Craig Miller Productions.

"The iPad application and engaging videos created by Craig Miller Productions were exactly what we needed to add life to our artifact cases," commented Super.

The benefits of this new technology include:
  • The iPad's intuitive touch screen, so users simply touch the image of the artifact they wish to know more about and receive engaging content and video.
  • Each kiosk's content and videos exist within a wholly self-contained website written in HTML. The technology is extensible, easily modified and intuitive to use.
  • The kiosk's application saves development costs, provides secure kiosk functionality.
  • Multiple languages are easily applied to the system and accessed through the touch of the iPad screen.

The design for this project was driven by the intention of creating a stylish exhibit space through which audiences could intuitively connect. The iPad and the video flat screen features can be adapted to many applications in both museum and trade show exhibitions. With wireless Internet, programming can be updated instantly.

"I have been excited and pleased with the innovative use of new technology pioneered by Craig Miller and his team," said Ted Ryan, manager of The Coca-Cola Company's Archives Collections. The exhibits took approximately six weeks to develop.
